The latest eruption of Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki has led to at least 10 fatalities and warnings of increased seismic activity, causing significant displacement among local residents.
Authorities reported that the eruption impacted seven villages, displacing many of the 10,000 residents and triggering multiple earthquakes. The smoke column reached 300 meters.
As a precaution, the National Agency for Disaster Management urged inhabitants to maintain a distance of more than seven kilometers from the volcano due to potential further eruptions.
Indonesia's geological landscape, especially within the Ring of Fire, positions it uniquely as home to some of the most hazardous volcanic activity in the world.
