An evening of solidarity will be held Saturday, Sept. 20, 6–8 p.m., at Revolution Books, 2444 Durant Ave., Berkeley, featuring video and dramatic readings. Readings will include material from Bamdad Bidar (Awake at Dawn/No Nooses), an online magazine created by current and former political prisoners in Iran. The event centers prisoner stories, poems and artwork as part of a prisoner-led campaign to stop executions in Iran. The program situates contemporary resistance alongside historical markers including the 1953 CIA coup, the 1988 mass executions of over 5,000 political prisoners, and the 2022 Woman, Life, Freedom uprising after Mahsa Amini's death.
