About 2,500 people have been evacuated in Russia's Belgorod region after days of Ukrainian shelling and incursions, according to the local governor, underscoring the rapid transformation of parts of the country's western border into a war zone.The conditions are quite difficult, the governor, Vyacheslav Gladkov, said in a post on the Telegram messaging app on Friday, adding that the evacuated residents were in temporary shelters in sport centers before being transported to regions further inside Russia.
