Jared Kushner returned to the Middle East to help secure and implement a Gaza ceasefire after President Trump drafted him back into diplomatic efforts. Kushner traveled with special envoy Steve Witkoff and Vice President Vance to negotiate Phase 2 measures, including establishing communication lines, preventing ceasefire violations, and improving aid delivery to Gaza. Kushner downplayed a weekend of deadly incidents as part of a transition from intense warfare to peacetime posture. Kushner’s prominent role has drawn ethical scrutiny because several governments that normalized relations under the Abraham Accords subsequently invested billions in Affinity Partners, the investment firm Kushner founded after leaving government.
