The U.S. Central Command said a missile was fired into the engine room of the Gambia-flagged cargo ship Lian Star after it ignored more than 20 warnings. The ship remained adrift in the Gulf of Oman and U.S. forces had not boarded it. The action brought the total to six ships stopped from breaching the blockade, with one allowed to proceed and 116 redirected. The blockade began April 17 after Iran effectively closed the strait following U.S. and Israeli strikes on Feb. 28. A fragile ceasefire has held since April 7, while talks aim to extend it by 60 days amid Iran’s disputed nuclear program. Strait of Hormuz disruptions have stranded major oil, natural gas, and fertilizer shipments, straining consumers and food producers, while the blockade targets Iran’s shipments and cash access. President Donald Trump has not decided whether to extend the ceasefire and reopen the strait, and Iran said the deal was not finalized.
"The U.S. Central Command said on Saturday. The Gambia-flagged cargo ship Lian Star ignored more than 20 warnings from U.S. forces overnight as it tried to enter an Iranian port, the military said."
