""We had a call, a long call. We discussed a lot of things," Trump told reporters. "And I think we're getting along very well with Venezuela.""

President Donald Trump will meet Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado at the White House after U.S. forces seized Nicolás Maduro and his wife and brought them to New York on drug trafficking charges. Machado's party is widely considered to have won the 2024 elections that Maduro rejected. Trump has questioned Machado's credibility to lead and has also signaled willingness to work with acting President Delcy Rodríguez, Maduro's former vice president, who continues running day-to-day government operations. Rodríguez has softened toward U.S. policies, agreed to release detainees, and Venezuela released several Americans. Endorsing Rodríguez has sidelined Machado.
