Trump Says Peace Deal 'Largely Negotiated,' But Iranians Hit Back At Hormuz Claim

An agreement to end the conflict between the United States and Iran is described as largely negotiated, with final aspects and details still being discussed. The claim includes opening the Strait of Hormuz as part of the agreement. The US president says he spoke by phone with leaders of multiple regional countries and separately spoke with Israel’s prime minister. Iran initially did not respond immediately, but a news agency linked to the IRGC said the Strait of Hormuz would remain under Tehran’s management and that reopening claims are incomplete and inconsistent. Iranian officials also referenced progress through Pakistani mediators and described a trend toward rapprochement while maintaining conditions and limits.

In addition to many other elements of the Agreement, the Strait of Hormuz will be opened,” he added."

"Trump said he had participated in a phone call with the leaders and other officials of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Pakistan, Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, and Bahrain. Trump also said in the posting that he had separately spoken with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and that the call had gone “very well.”"
