The US President ordered the airspace over Venezuela closed and urged all flights to avoid the country. A message warned airlines, pilots, drug dealers, and human traffickers that Venezuelan airspace should be considered closed. Caracas called the order a "colonialist threat" that violates international law and reported flights were unilaterally suspended. The FAA warned of a potentially hazardous situation due to heightened military activity. The US President claimed to have offered safe passage out of Venezuela to Nicolas Maduro and officials are drawing up military plans targeting military sites and cocaine labs.
