U.S. forces carried out targeted, large-scale attacks in Caracas overnight, capturing Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, and removing them from the country. President Trump announced the operation on Truth Social and said he watched the capture in real time from Mar-a-Lago alongside military generals. He described the raid as extremely complex and said assets included land, air, and sea forces and a massive number of aircraft. The mission, called Absolute Resolve, relied on months of intelligence and used space and cyber capabilities alongside traditional combat forces, and Maduro and his wife were taken to the USS Iwo Jima for prosecution in New York.
