"Despite the tremendous amount of pain she was in, she wanted to tell me her story. We spoke about who she was and what she loved. She loved school and her friends and dancing. That strike broke bones in her body. She had massive burns from the explosion that left her with large open wounds that the doctors in Gaza weren't able to operate on."

A missile strike destroyed a Rafah home, severely injuring nine-year-old Jouri. She sustained broken bones and massive burns that left large open wounds which medical teams in Gaza could not operate on. Jouri loved school, friends and dancing and tried to tell her story despite intense pain. Tess Ingram, a Unicef communications manager for the Middle East and North Africa, met Jouri in hospital while doing humanitarian work and has thought of her daily. The number of children medically evacuated from Gaza is very low compared with those injured. Jerusalem-based journalist Noga Tarnopolsky examines Donald Trump's Gaza peace plan and questions why so many people continue to die in the conflict.
