A protester climbed onto the balcony of the Iranian embassy in southwest London while demonstrations continued outside the building. The Metropolitan Police acknowledged the demonstration and deployed additional officers to prevent disorder. Anti-government protests in Iran began on 28 December over economic conditions and have grown into the largest in years, with human rights groups reporting at least 50 protesters killed. Demonstrations have taken place outside Iranian embassies worldwide. Western leaders expressed deep concern and condemned the killings, calling on Iranian authorities to protect citizens and allow freedom of expression and peaceful assembly.
