Taboos hold back important conversations, yet when we confront them, like discussing menopause, we foster crucial dialogues that empower women in their experiences.
Having the guts to push past taboos opens floodgates for necessary dialogue, especially surrounding female experiences like menstruation, menopause, and the changes that come with age.
Organizing a Peri/meno Pause Party created a space for women to share and laugh about their aging bodies, transforming discomfort into solidarity and understanding.
My journey as a public health academic taught me that addressing taboos not only aids in education for youth but also fosters community among women experiencing similar life stages.
