"Thank you guys,"
"I love you guys, thanks for everything. I love you mum, I love you dad. And I'm crying!"
Lando Norris secured the 2025 Formula 1 World Drivers' Championship at the season finale in Abu Dhabi, becoming a first-time world champion. The McLaren driver overcame season-long challenges from teammate Oscar Piastri and defending champion Max Verstappen, clinching the title by finishing third in the decisive race. Norris started second, was briefly overtaken by Piastri, then held off Charles Leclerc's Ferrari to take the necessary position. Verstappen won the race but finished two points behind in the standings, ending his streak of four consecutive titles. Norris is the first McLaren champion since Lewis Hamilton in 2008, and earlier-season disqualifications and strategy errors kept the championship open until the final round.
