Minab, the school massacre that shocked and united Iranians
Three U.S. Tomahawk missiles hit the Shajarah Tayyebeh school in Minab, southern Iran near the Persian Gulf, on a late-February morning. The attack killed 156 people, with over 100 children among the dead, and was described as the deadliest strike in the war. Two and a half months later, Minab still holds commemorations and banners for the victims, while trauma remains visible across streets. WHO figures report 3,469 deaths across Iran. Despite a ceasefire lasting more than a month, nightly pro-government demonstrations continue in several cities. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said women and children have been targeted in systematic attacks amounting to war crimes and crimes against humanity at the BRICS summit in New Delhi.
