Max Verstappen dominates F1 Las Vegas GP to keep championship hopes alive
"Title leader Lando Norris took second and with his McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri in fourth he managed to put another six points on him, with the Australian too just hanging on to his title chances. With the second place, Norris, while he will not countenance allowing the thought of it to cloud his approach, must be considered world champion in waiting."
"In the dry conditions the Red Bull was far superior than it had been in the wet in qualifying and Verstappen was almost flawless as he bossed the race on the street circuit in Nevada, if it was perhaps the least invigorating of the three meetings the circuit has now held. The win was another statement of intent from Verstappen and Red Bull that he will keep fighting to the very last in this championship even as his chances remain slim at best."
Max Verstappen won the Las Vegas Grand Prix with a dominant drive, keeping slim hopes for the championship alive. Lando Norris finished second and extended his lead over Oscar Piastri to 30 points, with 58 points available across Qatar (including a sprint) and Abu Dhabi. If Norris leaves Doha 26 points clear he will clinch the title; finishing ahead of Piastri and Verstappen in both Qatar races would suffice. Verstappen passed pole-sitter Norris at the first corner, controlled the race as Red Bull proved stronger in dry conditions, and cut his deficit to 42 points after a late-season surge.
