Mali’s military carried out drone strikes during a security crisis following attacks on government positions by al-Qaeda-linked JNIM fighters and Tuareg separatists from the FLA. The strikes occurred in the central region of San as villagers in Tene prepared for a traditional collective wedding. Residents reported that at least 10 children were killed, and a local official confirmed about 10 people died. The strikes targeted a procession of motorbikes moving one after another, which drew the attention of the drones. The incident adds to escalating conflict since JNIM and FLA coordinated offensives in April, including an attack on strategic towns that killed the defence minister.
