Hundreds of Venezuelan opponents gathered outside the Brooklyn Detention Center and celebrated as Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, were brought in to face federal narco-terrorism charges. The crowd applauded, waved flags, honked cars, and chanted insults at Maduro. Several Venezuelans expressed joy and hope, saying they wanted the regime to fall and that now there was hope. A Venezuelan officer used a megaphone to calm the crowd and confirm Maduro was inside the facility. Maduro and his wife were captured by US forces in an overnight operation in Caracas and transported to New York.
