"King Charles III and Queen Camilla will make a state visit to meet Pope Leo XIV for the first time at the Vatican next month, Buckingham Palace has said. The trip in late October will come about six months after the royal couple visited Leo's predecessor, Pope Francis, shortly before his death in April. During the coming trip Charles head of the Church of England and Camilla would join Leo in celebrations to mark the current jubilee year, held every 25 years,"
King Charles III and Queen Camilla will travel to the Vatican in late October for a state visit to meet Pope Leo XIV and to join jubilee year celebrations. The visit will celebrate ecumenical work between the Church of England and the Catholic Church under the jubilee theme of walking together as pilgrims of hope. A planned April visit was canceled because of Pope Francis's failing health, though the royal couple met him privately before his death. Pope Leo, 70, was elected in May and is the first pope from the US with missionary experience in Peru. The king has recently undergone cancer treatment and has visited the Vatican on multiple previous occasions.
