""We are always there," the resident said. "The claims that Hamas is present are completely false.""

Israeli airstrikes struck southern Lebanon days before the one-year anniversary of the ceasefire, killing at least a dozen people according to Lebanese health officials. Israel said it targeted Hezbollah members and infrastructure, including weapons storage facilities, and a Hamas training compound linked to Iran-backed groups. Local residents denied the claims, saying the area is populated by civilians, a sports ground was reduced to rubble, and there were many victims. Hezbollah's military wing rejected the allegations. One year on, the ceasefire is essentially in shambles. Thousands of civilians in Lebanon and Israel hope to return to border homes once strikes stop. On October 8, 2023, Hezbollah began targeting northern Israel in support of Hamas after a terror attack, helping to spark two years of conflict in Gaza.
