Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, were arraigned in Manhattan federal court and pleaded not guilty to charges including narco-terrorism, cocaine importation conspiracy, possession of machine guns and destructive devices, and conspiracy to possess such weapons. US forces captured them during a military raid on Caracas over the weekend. Maduro declared his innocence through an interpreter and attempted to identify himself as the constitutional president of Venezuela before a judge interrupted him. Flores pleaded not guilty and called herself completely innocent. Lawyers reported both defendants are facing health issues behind a multi-defendant indictment.
