""Our heart is broken for every single person who has been murdered, and we want to convey the fact that this has to end,""
""Not Another Bomb,""
""Because I'm using this sacred holiday of Yom Kippur, as a Jewish person whose ancestors perished during the Holocaust, to protest against the genocide of the Palestinian people in my name.""
""And I say, not in my name,""
Dozens of people were arrested in New York City during a rabbis-led protest on Yom Kippur calling for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza and an end to U.S. complicity. More than 1,000 Jews and allies gathered at Brooklyn Borough Hall where rabbis led Yizkor memorial prayers. Protesters marched to the Brooklyn Bridge, sat down to block traffic, and sang while officers subsequently arrested at least 56 people. Demonstrators carried banners reading "Not Another Bomb" and chanted "Let Gaza Live!" A participant invoked Holocaust ancestry to reject violence being carried out in her name; the protest coincided with a White House welcome for Benjamin Netanyahu.
