"Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has said the shooting was a targeted attack on Jewish Australians on the first day of Hanukkah. He said it should have been a day of joy and a celebration of faith, describing the violence as anti-Semitic terrorism that struck at the heart of the nation. "An attack on Jewish Australians is an attack on every Australian," Albanese said. He added that Australians were devastated by what he called an attack on the country's way of life."
At least 11 people were killed and 29 injured in a shooting at Bondi Beach in Sydney that targeted a Jewish Hanukkah celebration attended by about 1,000 people. Initial reports said two suspects were detained, but later reports indicated one suspect was among those killed.
