This growth, said the analyst, reflects the rapid adoption of low-cost 5G devices, continued network roll-outs in markets such as India, Malaysia and Thailand, and forthcoming service launches in Pakistan and Sri Lanka."
"Data in the report showed that China will remain the largest 5G market in the world through the forecast period, with about 75% of its total mobile subscriptions to be on a 5G network in the country by 2029, primarily driven by investments and the local regulator's efforts to expand 5G service coverage to rural areas and industrial parks, and boost 5G adoption."
Government initiatives, enterprise digital transformation, and growing demand for high-performance connectivity for smart manufacturing, autonomous mobility and cloud gaming are accelerating standalone 5G deployments across Asia-Pacific. 5G subscriptions are projected to grow at an 11.4% CAGR, from 2.7 billion in 2025 to 4.6 billion by 2030. Low-cost 5G devices, ongoing network roll-outs in India, Malaysia and Thailand, and forthcoming launches in Pakistan and Sri Lanka are key drivers. China will remain the largest 5G market, with about 75% of mobile subscriptions on 5G by 2029. China expanded 5G base stations from about 4.2 million in 2024 to 4.6 million by September 2025. National 5G strategies include public investment, tax incentives and industry-government collaboration to expand coverage and applications.
