The Lexus crashed into a stationary lorry carrying soya beans that was illegally parked on the hard shoulder of the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, 30 miles from Lagos."

The Lexus SUV carried Joshua, his personal trainer Latif Ayodele, strength coach Sina Ghami, and Kayode on the Lagos–Ibadan expressway. A tyre burst while attempting to overtake, and the vehicle collided with an illegally parked lorry carrying soya beans on the hard shoulder. Ayodele and Ghami died at the scene. Kayode and Joshua sustained minor injuries; Kayode was treated at Lagoon Hospital and kept under observation. Kayode was granted bail but remains in custody pending bail conditions. Authorities said the vehicle exceeded the speed limit. The accident occurred ten days after Joshua's victory over Jake Paul and doctors later confirmed Joshua and another passenger were stable.
