"When you play someone like Corentin you don't know what's going to be next,"
"I had so much fun on the court. As you could see, we both pulled off great shots. Great points."
"I've been to the net 55 times? I thought we were in a drop-shot competition, but he won!"
Carlos Alcaraz defeated Corentin Moutet in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4, 6-1, at the Australian Open. Moutet used a varied left-handed arsenal of drop shots, slice, tweeners, half-volleys, angled volleys and an underarm serve to unsettle the world No. 1. The match featured lively shot-making, crowd engagement and celebratory moments from Moutet, including a deep lob and fist pump. Alcaraz experienced fatigue chasing drop shots and briefly refused to run forward on some approaches, yet countered with his own trick shots and maintained composure to close out the win. A momentum swing occurred in the second set when Moutet recovered from 0-3 to win four consecutive games.
