Anna van der Breggen made an impressive return to competitive cycling at the Vuelta Femenina after a three-season hiatus. Despite earlier struggles during the Classics campaign, she finished third overall, demonstrating her climbing prowess and strategic racing. She led on key climbs, showcasing both individual skill and team support from SD Worx-Protime, which placed riders on the podium across multiple stages. Her performance has sparked optimism for the upcoming season, with Van der Breggen expressing satisfaction with her progress and the team's collective success.
"All in all, this was a super week for Team SD Worx-Protime. It's promising for what is still to come this season," she said.
"I am really happy with this third place; it was a good stage for me. My teammates continuously kept us near the front. That only motivated me more," Van der Breggen said.
"I really felt a difference compared to Thursday. I am really satisfied that I am feeling better and better when climbing. After all, I have hardly done such efforts until now," Van der Breggen said.
"Her intense climbing pace dropped everyone but Vollering, Reusser and Cédrine Kerbaol. This performance highlights her returning form after a long absence from competitive racing."
