First-time altitude camp for Kristen Faulkner sets up 'real fitness' for Ardennes Classics and Grand Tours
Briefly

Kristen Faulkner is taking a measured approach to her 2024 cycling season following a concussion. With only one race under her belt so far, she remains optimistic and does not pressure herself to perform. Her past accomplishments include winning a Vuelta España stage and gold medals at the Olympic Games, raising her own competitive standards. Currently training at altitude in Sierra Nevada, she appreciates structured team training and aims to build her fitness gradually as she supports her teammates in upcoming races.
I'm definitely not 100% yet. Coming into this month [March], I knew that I wouldn't be at full form at Milan-San Remo, and so it was actually nice to have a first race back with no pressure. I could support my teammate [third-placed Noemi Rüegg].
I've done altitude twice in my life before, and both were on my own. This was my first time doing it with a team, so it's really well structured.
