In response to a high volume of Title IX complaints, the Education and Justice Departments have announced a special investigations team. This new team aims to expedite the resolution of Title IX cases, ensuring thorough preparation for potential enforcement actions by the DOJ. Education Secretary Linda McMahon emphasized the administration's commitment to enforcing Title IX, particularly against practices she equated with infringing women's rights in sports and private spaces, including complaints about trans women. The initiative seeks to tackle a backlog of cases and enhance the swift handling of investigations involving women's rights.
From day one, the Trump Administration has prioritized enforcing Title IX to protect female students and athletes. Traditionally, our Office for Civil Rights takes months, even years, to complete Title IX investigations.
We have received a staggering number of complaints about men competing in women's sports and invading women-only intimate spaces. To all entities receiving federal funding who continue to allow these illegal practices, we will not permit you to trample on women's rights any longer.
