Boxer helps women rebuild their lives after abuse

Lesley Sackey, an ex-Team GB boxer and a domestic abuse survivor, founded Fight Forward in 2022 to help women rebuild their lives through boxing. After her Olympic boxing dreams ended, she recognized the empowering impact of boxing on her healing journey. By teaching boxing skills, she supports women recovering from trauma, with the aim to reach 100,000 women. Drawing from her own experience, she highlights the pressing issue of domestic abuse, where one in four women in the UK are affected, motivating her mission to inspire and assist others.
"I was in survival mode," Lesley told BBC News. After her ordeal she "wanted to feel strong and empowered. I thought, what does that look like?"
