Ariana Byrd, a high school sophomore, initially felt fear before wrestling matches but gained confidence through training at the Lucha Wrestling Club. Encouraged by a friend, she joined the co-ed wrestling team despite her shyness and parental resistance. The all-girls freestyle wrestling program, led by Olympian coach Enas Ahmed, provided a supportive community. Byrd learned to combat fear with positive self-talk and has become captain of her high school team, showcasing her growth and newfound strength in the sport.
