In the Kherson region of Ukraine, a 77-year-old former teacher named Liudmyla and other survivors are raising awareness about conflict-related sexual violence. Through public meetings, they address the painful experiences of women subjected to sexual assault during the invasion. Despite societal stigma, more than 344 cases have been recorded, highlighting a critical issue. Liudmyla’s and Tetyana's testimonies encourage dialogue and attempt to break the silence surrounding assault, while Alisa openly recounts her past assault from 2014, continuing the fight for recognition and justice against these crimes.
Liudmyla's resilience embodies the spirit of survivors as she confronts her traumatic past in a public effort to raise awareness of sexual violence in Ukraine.
Speaking in front of a group of women, Liudmyla shared her painful story of being beaten and raped, drawing attention to the widespread sexual violence during the conflict.
