Only 11 percent of male homicide victims were killed by family members or intimate partners, indicating a gendered pattern in lethal violence. Many killings are preventable, yet gaps in protection, policing and social support increase risks. Underreporting and poor data collection likely underestimate the scale. Economic instability, conflict, displacement and lack of safe housing worsen risks for women trapped in abusive situations.
