Olivia Dunne, a former LSU gymnast, recently shared her journey to becoming a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover model despite dealing with a knee injury. In a video, she revealed she shot her cover photo with a fractured kneecap, stating it hurt but was worth it. Dunne had earlier announced her injury on social media, feeling heartbroken about missing her senior night. She concluded her gymnastics career after the NCAA semifinals, cherishing her experiences before celebrating her new achievement as a cover star for Sports Illustrated.
"Fun fact, I was shooting on a fractured kneecap, so poses like this and the cover shot kind of hurt, but it was honestly so worth it," Dunne said in a voiceover.
"Unfortunately I've been dealing with an avulsion fracture of my patella and will not be able to compete on senior night," Dunne wrote in an Instagram Story.
"You will always be my first love," Dunne said in a tribute video about gymnastics. "... Time did fly by and I will cherish every memory for the rest of my life."
"I AM A SPORTS ILLUSTRATED SWIM COVER MODEL!" she exclaimed of the milestone on Instagram.
