Raducanu's original opponent Elisabetta Cocciaretto withdrew at late notice because of fatigue, allowing Ruzic into the draw as a lucky loser. Raducanu fell 3-0 down in the first set and was broken twice as Ruzic closed the set in around half an hour. Raducanu trailed 5-3 in the second but produced two breaks to win four consecutive games and take the set 7-5. Raducanu led 2-0 in the decider but Ruzic then won six straight games to take the final set 6-2 and complete the victory in 2 hours 20 minutes.
