Buffer zones around abortion clinics will be enforced beginning 31 October to protect women from harassment by anti-abortion demonstrators, as per new government regulation.
The introduction of buffer zones comes in response to increasing protests outside clinics, where healthcare providers reported heightened intimidation and emotional distress among patients.
These new laws will create a 150m radius around abortion service providers, with substantial penalties for those who violate the restrictions established to ensure patient safety.
Previously, the former Tory government's inaction on implementing buffer zones led to growing pressure from organizations like MSI Reproductive Choices advocating for immediate action.
