Black women are almost five times less likely, and Asian women around four times less likely, to be on hormone replacement therapy compared to white women. HRT alleviates debilitating menopause symptoms like heart palpitations, hot flushes, and anxiety.
Structural racism and historical mistrust in medical professionals contribute to the racial disparities in HRT usage among Black and Asian women. These women often face challenges in being believed by doctors and need to advocate for themselves more.
