Seeing the plaques was very powerful. The names of the girls alongside their sentences highlighted the insufficient justice they received. Some sentences are shockingly short, like just 12 years. Although Jan's killer received 38 years, it’s still disheartening to think that if it was only Jan, his sentence would have been even less. Murder is murder—there shouldn’t be any distinction based on where it occurred.
