Las Positas Verdelho ties for Best White in Chronicle competition

Livermore winemaker Brent Amos has won the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition for the second time, this time with his 2023 Las Positas Estate Verdelho. Amos also won multiple Double Gold awards for other wines produced by Las Positas. Other wineries from the Bay Area, such as Soquel Vineyards and Kings Mountain Vineyards, were also recognized for their wines at the competition.
The 2023 Las Positas Estate Verdelho stood apart from 20 white wines in the final sweepstakes round of the 2024 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition earlier this month.
Another Bay Area winery, Soquel Vineyards, received recognition for their 2022 Partners Reserve Pinot Noir and 2022 Lago Lomita Vineyard Nebbiolo, both of which won Best of Class. Kings Mountain Vineyards in Woodside also scored Double Gold for their pinot noir wines. Other wineries from the Bay Area, such as Cooper Garrod, La Honda, Perrucci Family Vineyard, Pichetti, Silver Mountain, Storrs, and Safe Domaine Chandon also received awards at the competition.
Another Bay Area winery in the Sweepstakes round was Soquel Vineyards with their 2022 Partners Reserve Pinot Noir and 2022 Lago Lomita Vineyard Nebbiolo, both of which won Best of Class.
