Samsung promises the Galaxy S25 Edge won't be fragile despite its thinness
Briefly

Samsung's upcoming Galaxy S25 Edge, set for full reveal next month, reportedly features an impressively slim design at 5.84mm. Annika Bizon, Samsung's Mobile Experience VP, assured that this thinness will not compromise the phone's durability. While she did not provide specific details, hints suggest the use of a ceramic back that may enhance sturdiness. With a potential new approach to durability, the S25 Edge is generating buzz ahead of its unveiling, emphasizing a blend of aesthetics and functionality that may set a new standard for Samsung devices.
I can't say too much, but what I will say is that [the Edge] is about beautiful form factor. And there are two points I want to make. One is that it's absolutely stunning. And if you think about the technology that's going into that size of space, it's pretty impressive. The second thing I'll say concerns durability. With anything slim, durability [has to come as part of the package]. Those are the two features [of the Edge] that are exciting [for us]. Well, I know durability isn't exciting - but it's really important. So watch this space, because there are some exciting things to come regarding this phone.
That does sound to us like she's trying to hint at the phone bringing something new (for Samsung) to the table in terms of durability, and the S25 Edge has been rumored to use a ceramic back. So that's probably as close to an official confirmation we'll ever get before the actual unveiling of the phone.
Ceramic is tougher than glass, and it may work in concert with the metallic frame to ensure that the S25 Edge doesn't fail now-traditional 'durability tests' like those performed by Zack at JerryRigEverything.
