Google announced FDA clearance for the Pixel Watch 3's Loss of Pulse Detection feature, set to roll out in the US by the end of March. This feature alerts users if it detects a heart attack or overdose by sensing a loss of pulse, prompting a response, and automatically contacting emergency services if necessary. Previously available in the EU since September 2024, the feature's rollout in other regions will depend on local regulatory approvals.
Google stated that the Pixel Watch 3 can differentiate between genuine loss-of-pulse events and simply taking off the watch, enhancing user safety.
The Loss of Pulse Detection feature will call emergency services automatically if a user doesn't respond to a prompt, providing critical help in emergencies.
