Man using Meta AI glasses to film women prompts USF warning
"As a community, we share the responsibility of caring for ourselves, each other, and this place,"
"By looking out for one another and promptly reporting concerns, we help ensure a safe and supportive environment for all."
"Not everyone loves being photographed. Stop recording if anyone expresses that they would rather opt out, and be particularly mindful of others before going live,"
"with unwanted comments and inappropriate dating questions."
University of San Francisco officials issued a campuswide alert after multiple people reported a man approaching women on campus with unwanted comments and inappropriate dating questions while wearing Ray-Ban Meta sunglasses. Officials said the man may be uploading recorded footage to social platforms including TikTok and Instagram and that no threats or acts of violence have been reported. Officials said they have been unable to identify all students who appear in the videos and urged affected members to report the content to the platforms and to the USF Department of Public Safety. Meta introduced the latest iteration of the glasses in September; the frames include a small camera operable by button or voice.
