Sources: Syracuse fires Adrian Autry after missing NCAAs again
Syracuse dismissed men's basketball coach Adrian Autry after he failed to lead the program to the NCAA tournament in his three seasons. The Orange finished the 2023-24 season with a 15-17 record (6-12 ACC), losing their final six games and 12 of their last 15 contests to place 14th in the conference. Autry compiled a 49-48 overall record with a 24-34 conference mark. The team struggled significantly, losing 27 games by double digits and recording only four Quadrant 1 wins. Syracuse managed just one Quadrant 1 victory over the past two seasons. The firing occurred after an 86-69 first-round ACC tournament loss to SMU.
"I don't shy away from the job that I did. I'm harder on myself than anybody. I didn't get the results that we wanted. (Autry acknowledged underperformance following the season-ending loss, taking personal responsibility for the team's failure to meet expectations and achieve NCAA tournament qualification during his tenure.)"
"Autry, 54, went 49-48 at Syracuse, including a 24-34 record in conference play, unable to return a program that Jim Boeheim built into a national power to the NCAA tournament. The Orange lost 27 games by double digits while managing just four Quadrant 1 wins."
