Bilal Coulibaly upset former Wizards left to join powerhouse
Briefly

The Washington Wizards altered their roster across the NBA Draft, free agency, and trades to blend youth and veteran experience. The team added players in nearly every available way while also subtracting several from last season's roster. Washington cut ties with Marcus Smart, Richaun Holmes, and likely Malcolm Brogdon amid free agency movement. Bilal Coulibaly developed close bonds with teammates and singled out Richaun Holmes as the player he will miss most, praising Holmes as the hardest player he has played with and wishing him well. Holmes was bought out after a trade failed to materialize to free cap space.
However, the French product's recent comments following a recent FIBA AmeriCup matchup made it clear who he'll miss arguably the most next season: "I love him, I love Rich. He's probably the hardest player I've played with," Coulibaly said in a postgame interview with Giorgos Kyriakidis of BasketNews. "I'd love to be with him on the court. I think he's going to fit well with this team. So, good luck to him."
Holmes found himself on the outside looking in this offseason after the Wizards opted to buyout the veteran forward following the lack of materialization of a trade. The big man has served as a solid front court option for nearly every team he's suited up for, but considering his contract and lack of a role with the Dallas Mavericks and Wizards over the last coiple of years, minimal interest turned into Washington resorting to a final resort to free up space and cap room.
