Danny Wilson has been appointed as forwards coach for Wales under caretaker boss Matt Sherratt, amid a revamped coaching staff. This role coincides with Wilson's scheduled break from Harlequins, allowing him to contribute to the national team without disrupting his club commitments. He is familiar with Sherratt from their time together at Cardiff and expresses excitement about the collaboration. Wilson previously withdrew from a 2017 tour with Wales but is eager to engage with the team now, demonstrating his respect for the coaching hierarchy and shared experiences with Sherratt.
"I was excited to get the opportunity and Harlequins were brilliant to allow me to do it," said Wilson. "It falls right in my break in terms of finishing with Harlequins and reviews."
"Wilson says the pair work well together, although they are responsible for different areas. I'm very respectful of who is in the head coaching role," said Wilson.
"Matt was supportive of me in our period together at Cardiff, and likewise me now. He's picked up some great experience here and put in some great foundations in a short space."
