Sam Cosmi is rehabbing an ACL tear and was placed on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform List, with a potential return for Week 1. Terry McLaurin is on the Reserve/Did Not Report List due to a holdout for a better contract, incurring fines of $50k for each missed day. His holdout has been a significant focus for the Commanders this offseason. In response to McLaurin's absence, the Commanders signed WR Tay Martin, an undrafted free agent with prior experience with the 49ers and Titans.
Sam Cosmi had surgery in January after tearing his ACL in a playoff win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He's been hitting all the markers, and head coach Dan Quinn said that returning for Week 1 is on the table.
Terry McLaurin's holdout has been a top story for the Washington Commanders and the NFL this offseason. He started skipping practice during OTAs, and has continued to stay away from the team.
McLaurin didn't report to team headquarters yesterday for his physical, and will start getting fined $50k for every day he misses. He has one year left on the extension he signed in 2022.
The Commanders announced the signing of WR Tay Martin an hour after McLaurin was placed on the Reserve/Did Not Report List. Martin has been a practice squad/special teams player in his career.
