Perspective | The Nationals have promising pieces, but this puzzle still needs work
Briefly

What we know is that with Wednesday's 3-2 victory, the Nats both stopped a six-game slide and are now somehow 35-30 since June 23. In that time, they have won 13 series and lost just seven.
But when and if the Nationals are good again, when they're playing games in September that matter like they did for so long, it won't be because the path back is a straight line.
This is not a big-picture concern about the direction of the roster and the system. It's just an acknowledgment that there will be joy and hiccups in this process.
