"Several coaches within the Nationals' minor league system were informed their contracts would not be renewed. Among them: manager Billy McMillon and hitting coach Mike Habas ( Class A Fredericksburg); hitting coach Delwyn Young, pitching coach Mark DiFelice and development coach Mark Harris ( high Class A Wilmington); and pitching coach Rafael Chaves ( Class AAA Rochester)."
"Minor league hitting coordinator Tommy Everidge, catching coordinator Randy Knorr, medical rehab coordinator Gene Basham, fundamentals coordinator Jeff Garber, rehab pitching coordinator Joel Hanrahan and Florida Complex League development coach Frank Moore were also not retained. Modesto Ulloa, one of the four international scouts who was let go, was credited with identifying a young Juan Soto as a budding star in the Dominican Republic in the mid-2010s."
"At least two minor league managers were given offers to stay - Rochester's Matthew LeCroy and Harrisburg's Delino DeShields - though their roles moving forward are unclear. The decisions follow the departures of a handful of top executives on Wednesday, including assistant general manager Mark Scialabba and farm director Eddie Longosz, who were both informed that they would not return to the organization."
Washington Nationals dismissed at least 12 player-development staff and four international scouts as part of a sweeping overhaul under president of baseball operations Paul Toboni. Several minor-league coaches had contracts not renewed, including Billy McMillon, Mike Habas, Delwyn Young, Mark DiFelice, Mark Harris and Rafael Chaves. Multiple coordinators and development coaches, such as Tommy Everidge, Randy Knorr, Gene Basham, Jeff Garber, Joel Hanrahan and Frank Moore, were also not retained. International scout Modesto Ulloa, credited with identifying a young Juan Soto, was among those let go. Rochester’s Matthew LeCroy and Harrisburg’s Delino DeShields were offered to stay. Assistant general manager Mark Scialabba and farm director Eddie Longosz were informed they would not return, and several pro scouts who served as special assistants under former GM Mike Rizzo were impacted. Rizzo and manager Dave Martinez were fired in July.
