Leslie Odom Jr. is set to reprise his iconic role as Aaron Burr in Hamilton after nearly ten years away from the character. Originally part of the Broadway ensemble during Hamilton's rise, Odom won a Tony for his portrayal in 2016. His limited run at the Richard Rodgers Theatre, from September to November, marks a significant homecoming for the actor, celebrated by key figures such as Jeffrey Seller and Lin Manuel Miranda. Odom's return coincides with Hamilton's nearing 10th anniversary, making it a poignant moment for both fans and performers alike.
Returning to Hamilton is a deeply meaningful homecoming. I'm so grateful for the chance to step back into the room - especially during this anniversary moment - and to revisit this brilliant piece that forever changed my life and the lives of so many.
When I saw Leslie perform 'The Room Where It Happens' at the first act two workshop of Hamilton, I knew I was witnessing a historic moment. How lucky we are that Leslie is returning to Hamilton and bringing his indelible Burr back to Broadway.
Well, if it isn't Aaron Burr... Welcome back [Leslie Odom Jr.], I can't wait to see you again.
In his years away from Hamilton, Odom appeared in a handful of other Broadway productions, including Gutenberg the Musical and a revival of Purlie Victorious: A Non-Confederate Romp Through the Cotton Patch.
