Should the Park Service End Rock Creek Parkway's Reversible Lanes? - Washingtonian
Briefly

Sharon Kershbaum, the DDOT Director, expressed concerns to the National Park Service about the proposed elimination of reversible lanes on Rock Creek Parkway. She fears this could lead to severe traffic congestion in downtown areas as commuters may divert to residential neighborhoods. The program has operated since 1937, allowing one-way travel during rush hours. Advocates claim it promotes safety, while opposition highlights economic impacts and potential for unmanageable traffic during peak hours.
Removing the reversible lanes is not going to work. Traffic during rush hour will become unmanageable, and it could harm DC's economy.
This project makes a lot of sense. We're trying to address a safety challenge with high-speed traffic during one-way hours.
