A fire engulfed a three-story mansion in northwest Washington, DC on Tuesday morning, shortly following a smaller fire the previous night. The building, purchased for $8.575 million and currently unoccupied for renovations, drew a massive response from around 100 firefighters and 20 emergency vehicles. The first fire was limited but escalated to a significant two-alarm emergency. Fortunately, while a firefighter fell into an elevator shaft, there were no serious injuries reported and the fire was controlled by late morning. Investigators are looking into the cause.
